Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at Abbotsford Physiotherapy
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at Abbotsford Physiotherapy is provided by a physiotherapist who is trained in assessing and treating pelvic floor dysfunctions like urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, incomplete emptying of the bladder, chronic lower back pain, pre and post-partum pelvic floor issues, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, heaviness or pressure in the pelvic region, inability to contract pelvic floor muscles, painful intercourse etc.
Pelvic floor muscles support the pelvis like a hammock. These muscles, like all other muscles in the body, should be able to contract and relax. When they lose the ability to contract or relax normally, pelvic issues like urinary leakage, increased frequency and urgency of urine, pain with intercourse, constipation, etc. arise.
Pelvic floor physiotherapists assess the patient internally and externally to find out the problems/concerns and form an individualized treatment plan.
